Sitting upon the bench
Making a couple of sub appearances.having some competitive reserve appearances as well as the u 21 side
And a planned loan deal with a club that will help him learn.grow and develop as well as smooth pit the rough edges.
If some or all of these things are happening Then those with the job to develop our youngstars can be seen to. Be doing their job

Re: Elliott Lee
Considering only a division 2 team wanted him, that's probably all you need to know really, as I'm sure scouts from all divisions are regulars at our U21 games.

I'm sure if our youth is good enough it will get a game and so I'm hoping to see some of Oxford next season.

Re: Elliott Lee
He's apparently staying at Luton for the rest of the season now so don't expect to see him anytime soon (not that we would have with Fatty at the helm).

Re: Elliott Lee
Allardyce infamously never gives youth a chance.
Same story at Bolton and Newcastle, although Bolton's academy is obviously incomparable to the bigger clubs, he would much rather sign 30+ year old players with bags of experience which is fair enough, but not the right philosophy for a club like us.

Re: Elliott Lee
I'd like to see him given a run out with Sakho in particular, as he works well in a partnership up top, for the last couple of games of the season there's no risk of him getting some game time in the Prem, at least then everyone has a better idea of how close he is to being a regular Prem player at the moment.

Re: Elliott Lee
Meanwhile in the next window clubs will measure themselves on how much they gamble, often completely recklessly, in the transfer market. Yet they can't give 15 minutes to a young player in a dead rubber match? Completely and utterly absurd!!!

Re: Elliott Lee
When it comes down to whether or not a manager 'rates' a player, no wonder so few youths are risked. Because managers won't put their reputations on the line. And in such a fickle industry managers are only as good as their last decision.

As Sullivan says 'managers aren't geniuses'. So why are they being relied upon so heavily to make decisions where the safe option is so clearly counter-productive to the club?

Re: Elliott Lee
It might have been worth linking him up with Sakho when Valencia was unavailable/indisposed, but the present manager either doesn't rate him or is unwilling to give him a chance.

Re: Elliott Lee
>>> the upside to giving him a chance is potentially massive, the downside really is pretty negligable, especially if it comes at the end of this seasn.

This seems so undeniably true to me, when applied to almost any younger player of a certain standard, that the whole system becomes impossible to understand in any rational way.

I can only assume that decision-makers at clubs operate in a climate of utter irrational fear, for their status and jobs, that they are so unwilling to entertain the most minor of risks despite such obvious upsides.

in typical style resorting to insults

well feel free to buy the club and then run it as you see fit

until then I'd leave it up to the people who have been doing this for years and carry on whinging like a little girl on a message board when something doesn't go how you want

Re: Elliott Lee
He took his goals well last night (especially the timing of his run for the second), and his link up play and movement were good. Looked a tad overweight to me though.

He looks a decent player in League Two (against a promotion chasing side), but it's a monumental leap up from there to the Prem.

If Luton didn't make the play off's we might as well give him a run out in our last two games, as we won't have too much to play for then.

Re: Elliott Lee
If he has a few games and turns out to not be good enough then what I would actually say is 'well Elliott Lee turned out to not be up to it, that's a shame'. But at the moment we haven't got a clue, and it will just end up being another 'what if'. We've had a lot of those recently, and yes they've pretty much all turned out to be the right decision, but nevertheless I'm getting a bit fed up of them. We've got ourselves in a position now that, to be fair to Allardyce, we haven't been for the last 3 seasons plus, where we could afford to try a couple of players out. Why not use it? There's fuck all else left to play for, let's make some use of these last few games at least. This kid looks like he might have something, and he feels a connection to the club. That's got to be worth a shot.

Re: Elliott Lee
Prodopkin,

So playing a youngster a couple of times at the end of a pretty much dead rubber season guarantees relegation - in fact, concurrent relegations it would appear? Don't be a complete knob, you can't actually believe that.

All based upon those things that are very clear when you view the past two years or so.

He isn't good enough because he was undeveloped
If your concepts cannot see that Prop
Then I guess that is a shame.

Just imagine that life is a process and we are products of the
Quality of the component parts of that process
